Role of Luffa echinata[bandal,devdali] in hepatitis[jaundice]
In ayurveda Luffa echinata[bandal,devdali] comes under ubhaytobhaghar[excrets dosha via upper and lower route. In hepatitis[kamla] role of Luffa echinata[bandal,devdali] is known since 4th century. Now this is scintificaly proven that Luffa echinata[bandal,devdali] reduce bilirubin load and also have hepatoprotactive action. Bilirubin load is reduced by histaminic action and its action on liver peroxidase enzyme it is hepatoprotactive.
